How are you feeling today? For us SoCal locals, it has been cloudy and rainy for days and the increase in darkness can make some feel sluggish with low energy and less focus. Personally, I always feel an impact from these days. What's a girl to do to shift this and power through?
A morning practice of YOU time is always my numero uno solution. Wake, drink a cup of water, do some yoga and meditate. (NOTE: If you would like to join my daily sadhana (spiritual practice of yoga and meditation) class at 6:00AM, contact me for details). After that, make a healing cup of joe or tea (whatever your preference... there's plenty of research on the benefits and deficits of caffeine so let's save that topic for another day :-).
Be sure to get your heart pumping atleast 150 minutes at a moderate intensity per week (75 minutes at a more vigorous pace) and do some weight baring excercises. If this is in your yoga practice then you already did it - yeah YOU! And always, always, always strive to eat nutrient dense foods. Eating is meant to nourish our body and minds so be mindful with what you put in your foods. Follow the 80/20 rule of eating healthy 80% of the time and allowing the other 20% to go towards those foods you really enjoy, yet are not the healthiest for you. I personally eat mostly whole foods, vegetarian, and gluten free. If it does not grow in the earth, then most times I don't want it! I also turn on my light box when I first sit at my office desk. It is pure magic in a box, even for this skeptic who hesitated to purchase one for years and felt the effects from one session. There is a reason some hospitals have rooms filled with these.
You only have ONE body, ONE mind, and this life to be the best that you can be. You create your foundation and if your foundation does not feel safe and secure, how well are you truly getting through life? Your health is NOT another line on your to do list. It is the foundation from which your to do list sprouts. Unsure of how to get there? That's understandable and you are not alone.
Take baby steps. You did not learn to walk before crawling (well, for most of us anyways). Likewise, going from where you are today to what you want to be takes time. Set your goals and step towards them. Did you fall backwards? Of course you did. You are human. So, get back on the path, find an accountability partner, and reach for the stars! Don't have an accountability partner? Reach out to me. I would LOVE to help you.
That is it for today. Take care of yourself first by filling your cup, then you are better able to care take those around you. ~ Char
How have I done so far?
Personal Goal of daily sadhana, check (with the exception of a few mornings). College, check. Daily workout and nutrition need some improvement still. I've walked A LOT and danced a few times, yet have not made it into our gym for strength training.
Family Goal is a definite check! Feeling the love.
Professional Goal is going, just wish I had three more of me to get it all done. Reiki Retreat Weekend just got put on the books so if you want to learn more about it, let me know. It will be next month, February 17 - 19, 2017 (Fri - Sun) .
